A crew from Channel Q13’s “Washington’s Most Wanted” television program is scheduled to film a segment on the “Shepherd Shield” personal security app developed by Security Services Northwest, Inc. The film crew is set to visit SSNW headquarters in Sequim on Wednesday, April 18.
Security Services Northwest President Joe D’Amico and his Shepherd Shield team launched the app in 2017, and it now has 10,700 users. Producers of Washington’s Most Wanted have been working with D’Amico to help promote Shepherd Shield.
“We appreciate Q13’s interest in Shepherd Shield, a valuable tool to help keep adults and children safe,” says Joe D’Amico.
Shepherd Shield’s real-time alerts are issued when a subscriber comes in close proximity of a threat area as determined by information obtained from a variety of sources. Subscribers are alerted to Shepherd Shield alerts with the sound of a barking dog. Data can be viewed individually, as lists, and using a map feature. There is also a “report it” function so a subscriber may contribute information.
Shepherd Shield packages provide training for school staff, teachers and students on situational and threat awareness, reaction plans to an active threat, signage and the mobile app itself. The goal is to help campus managers apply a layered approach to security by using the necessary tools, resources and mindset to deny, repel and protect against intruders.
Washington’s Most Wanted has been on air since 2008. The program airs on channel Q13 FOX at 11 pm on Fridays and at 10:30 pm on Saturdays. In partnership with Crime Stoppers, the TV program recently tagged its 982nd capture of a suspect thanks to on-air publicity and tips from the public.
